Annissa started belly dancing in 2000 to make new friends and get some exercise after moving to Tacoma, Washington. That first step led to an exploration of many different belly dance styles (oriental, Egyptian, and tribal fusion to name a few) and turned into a passion for this beautiful dance form. She now shares her knowledge by teaching classes in Regina, Saskatchewan.
In addition to solo practice, Annissa continually trains with top dance instructors by attending classes and workshops locally, nationally, and internationally. She is currently concentrating on advancing through the stages of the Dark Side Dance Program and is certified in Stage 1 – Basic Black ©.
Annissa is a founding member and principal choreographer for Br’Issah. Formed in 2009, Br’Issah is a trio of dancers from Regina, SK who enjoy sharing their love of belly dance by experimenting with eclectic music to create innovative and evocative choreographies. She is also a member of Raks Azhar Dance Troupe.

This class introduces students to the fundamental arm, foot, hip, and torso movements in belly dance and gives them a taste of choreography. Classes will generally include a warm up, some technique (both new and a review), as well as combinations which are put together to form a short choreography. After a couple semesters, students are amazed at how many movements they know and how much they’ve accomplished! This class is open to people of various fitness levels and all ages from teens to seniors. No prior dance experience is necessary. More information on my website.
